About this course

This podcast-based CEU explores the proprioceptive sensory system and its critical role in movement, behavioral regulation, and skill acquisition. Designed for behavior analysts and interdisciplinary clinicians, this episode bridges findings from neuroscience, occupational therapy, and applied behavior analysis to highlight how proprioceptive input influences attention, motor planning, emotional regulation, and adaptive behavior. Listeners will review foundational neurophysiology of proprioceptors, examine research on proprioception in autism and developmental differences, and discuss how proprioceptive strategies can be incorporated into behavior analytic practice as antecedent supports and performance-enhancing interventions. Emphasis is placed on improving collaboration between BCBAs and occupational therapists through shared language and evidence-based approaches. Practical examples and real-world applications are provided to support clinical decision-making and enhance learner engagement across home, school, and community settings.
