About this course

This podcast-style CEU explores the concept of the “Behavioral Artist” and its role in enhancing the delivery of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Drawing from research on interpersonal skills and therapeutic effectiveness, participants will examine how characteristics such as warmth, optimism, perceptive sensitivity, and creativity influence clinical interactions and social validity. The session will review key findings demonstrating that parents overwhelmingly prefer providers who demonstrate Behavioral Artistry traits and that practitioners with higher levels of these characteristics appear more engaging and positive during therapy, even when technical competence is similar. Participants will also discuss the distinction between “Behavioral Technologists” and “Behavioral Artists,” the implications for training and supervision, and how integrating compassionate, relationship-focused skills may expand traditional dimensions of ABA practice. This CEU emphasizes balancing technical precision with humanistic care to promote stronger therapeutic alliances, improved client engagement, and socially meaningful outcomes.
